I have always loved food, whether it was learning about it or eating it. I didnt realise in the 1980’s how important nutrition would become and how science is now proving it to be the case. What we eat doesn’t just affect how we feel, or what size we are, but our genetics, and what diseases we may suffer from, after all the human genome wasnt even mapped then! (sequenced 1990-2003). As the world has grown in my lifetime, our human diet has suffered somewhat, and although we are lucky enough in most parts of the world to eat plentifully, some of what we are actually consuming is of some concern to those studying it.
My approach is a plant based whole food diet (you may see it described as PBWFD). When I first looked at studying Nutrition I considered studying to be a dietician, but I couldn’t reconcile myself with having to provide manufactured ‘foods’. I felt my calling was over, I wanted to be an informed and validated practitioner. I wondered why I felt this way, it wasnt until I took an interest in epigenetics some years later that my path became clearer to me. I did my research and found viable training providers who offered science based training and I embarked on what was to be my calling.
I help people who have any issues with food, this can be emotional, sensory, nutritional, usually all three of these are bound up together somewhere. Sometimes clients have not realised that something they repeatedly eat is causing issues or that they lack something in their diet that is causing signigicant symptoms. I had IBS-C for over 30 years with a hit and miss approach trying to figure things out myself before I studied nutrition, at which point I was quite disgusted that this wasnt an entire first year module at medical school for all doctors and nurses. Needless to say as soon as I knew what was going on in my body I sorted a diet out for myself which I love and can eat in abundance with no more IBS or GERD symptoms and no pain and discomfort to eat.
Now I love helping others to do the same, finding what is right for them.
