I had never heard of the like until I happened upon it on my journey to wellness. There are fruitfestivals all over the world and many raw foodists of all sorts attend, and meat eaters hoping to learn more or just to support their freinds.
Being in the UK and not known for my traveling expertise I attended the FrutifestUK in 2018 and 2019. Here I learned a great deal and met alot of people who have this lifestyle. From what I learned this is one of the best gatherings for learning as there are usually at least 4 expert speaker talks per day along with yoga, meditation and spiritual awareness sessions, as well as the opportunity to be fed cop ious amounts of raw food. My favorite recommendations from the speakers I saw has to be
Drs Rick and Karen Dina https://rawfoodeducation.com/ because they can explain the chemistry and biology, Rosalind Graham https://fruitfest.co.uk/tag/rosalind-graham/ because she says it all in a way I can understand it, Anne Osbourne http://www.fruitgod.com/ because she has been raw fruitarian for decades and is also a botanist so I learned alot about the plants I ate, Melissa Raimondi https://www.rawfoodromance.com/ for her awesome recipies of sauces which turns any meal into a delight, Chris Kendall https://therawadvantage.com/category/rawsome-recipes/ for his exuberance and knowledge, and teaching me dehydrating stuff to look like pizza isnt scary you just have to plan a little ( and that raw doesnt have to mean salads), and Kristina Carrillo-Bucaram https://www.fullyraw.com/ for her caring womens groups (there were other groups but as a woman identifying as such I attended this one) and inspiration sharing her life experiences, and Roger King https://www.amazon.co.uk/Roger-King for his workshops and free dance experiences on love, understanding and acceptance. I also met Dr Areli Cuervas-Ocampo https://www.instagram.com/rawvegandoctor/at her first attendance to FruitfestUK in 2019 as a raw vegan who is spreading the word of Raw Vegan into the medical world where once there was oppostion to plant based whole foods, there is now the science to back it up and educated professionals are beginning to learn what they were not taught at medical school all those decades ago. I think she will become a speaker there in 2020, she was certainly well sought after at the dinner table.
For myself, eating Plant based raw vegan has certainly helped me cope with my previous heath conditions, its not for everyone who doesnt want it. I certainly encourage people to eat realfoods not manufactured food like products and the rest of their journey is unique for you which is why I always recommend professional advice when changing your diet. Working with a Nutritional Therapist and Detox specialist (and Weight Loss adviser if thats what you need right now) is key to your ongoing success. Find someone you get on with, dont feel judged by, and can say, well I ate cake and a bag of chips today because I was so stressed out, so they can help and support you. Theres no point not being honest with them. As a trained therapist I understand the biology and psychology of why a person chose it, believe me its not all about willpower, and also how to reduce behaviours you are trying not to repeat, without judgement but with alot of love, understanding and practial advice.
